Happy New Year to all the friends I have met on here!
Here is a new thread for us ... a fresh start for the year 2020!!
I originally started this thread in 2017 .. when I was at my all time highest weight, and so down and discouraged with myself. This is the 4th year now that I am again starting this thread. Losing weight is not easy, and it takes daily commitment. Losing weight also means changing years of bad habits into good habits, and that also does not come easy. It takes daily commitment. If we fail one day, we can always start fresh the next day. This is why this thread is called "JUST FOR TODAY". Because that is all we need to do ... try and do something to improve our habits and lifestyle for just one day.
In this thread, we set daily goals each day. Then the next day, be accountable, and say how you did with those goals, and set new goals. Some of us are very busy, actually most of us are!. So the goals can be very simple, or they can be like a " to do" list. But it is about not giving up and being accountable, and having a group of posters to encourage you to hang in there, and keep going.
So I invite anyone who would like to join us. This is not a group .. anyone can join. And the more you post, the more you get to know other posters, and have that great support and encouragement. This is a thread where we can vent if we need to, ask for help when we have had a bad day, get motivation when we are struggling, and have us as a cheerleader when you have had a good day. It is a thread where each day starts fresh ... one day at a time. Because that is how we can change unhealthy habits to good, healthy habits, one day at a time.

My weight history:
SW Year 2017: 217
SW Year 2018: 195.5
SW Year 2019 : 206
SW Year 2020: 182,6
Goals I accomplished in 2019:
1. I now consistently exercise 4-5x a week.. I went from hating exercise to going to the gym regularly and I miss it when I don't go.
2. Was successful in losing almost 25 pounds this year ... and am only 5 pounds from being out of the "overweight" section on the weight scale.
3. Still a work in progress ... but I am slowly learning how to stop the emotional eating, and replace it with different habits. But .. this is still a work in progress for me. Years of this as a habit cannot be changed overnite, but it is progress, not perfection, that I am striving for.
Goals for 2020:
These are the healthy habits I would like to do in 2020:
1. Lose 15 pounds to get to my ultimate goal of 165, and then learn how to maintain it.
2. To be better with planning my meals each week
3. to get up in the morning, and have a rough idea of what I plan to eat the rest of the day.
4. To stop mindless eating. To learn how to eat to live, not live to eat.
5. To make drinking water a regular habit.. and drink 8+ glasses of water a day
SW January 1, 2020: 182.6
Goal weight by the end of the year: 165-170
So my goals JFT, January 1st:
1. log all my food
2. mindful eating .. think before I eat
3. get out my gratitude journal, and write something in it before I go to bed tonite
4. in the evening when I want to eat... brush my teeth and drink water. Distract myself with sewing, a walk, or calling or texting a friend.

@mytime6630 Those all, daily and yearly goals, sound awesome and definitely doable! Thank you for starting a new thread this year!
I know everyone says it the first day of a new year, but NEW YEAR, NEW ME!
I have fallen out of pretty much every single healthy habit I've created in the past over this last year. So much went on, both good and bad, but this year it's time to build those up again and get back to being the healthy, much slimmer me. So here's to a new and much different year!
2020 goals
1. Take back my life!
2. Finish my WIP by March 1st
3. Weigh 155lbs by July 1st
4. GET PREGNANT! Or at least figure out why I can't.
5. Rebuild my water/gym/low sugar habits
6. Make MFP/JFT a priority
So to start some of those today!
JFT 1/1/20
1. Get back on the water horse! 64 oz of water! Already done! And it's only just after 12!
2. Fold laundry!
3. Go to the gym and walk for at least a half an hour
4. Write at least one chapter of WIP
5. Put away dishes when the washer is done running
6. Figure out lunch/dinner and log appropriately
7. Bed before 11(School starts again on Monday so no more midnight bedtimes!)
Okay I think that is it for now!
Have an awesome day my fellow JFTers!14 -

Tim made a huge breakfast this morning: Bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. I really, really wanted some biscuits and gravy, but chose to forgo it and have bacon & eggs only. Yikes its like I made a good decision.
Happy New Year to all and I hope it's fabulous just like you!

I love fresh new threads! Thank you @mytime6630!! I just went back to see what my weights were since I first joined MFP and I have not done well...gained rather than lost. But, as I look at each year and the weight, I know what my triggers were, for which I allowed myself to emotionally eat. So, looking back was really good for me.
I'm going to make a written record below of what is going through my mind today so I can refer back. My biggest takeaway for this year is that I need to keep things in perspective (what are the facts vs my version or 'story'), change what I can, learn to accept and how to deal with what I cannot, find joys & rewards in life that are not food, and work at it one tiny habit change at a time. Always moving forward...
MFP HISTORY:4/2012: 166.4
1/2/2013: 161.8
1/6/2014: 163.4
1/1/2015: 160
1/2/2016: 164.2 (Found @mytime6630's original thread)
1/2/2017: 153 (Work was beginning to get extremely stressful, as well as life situations at home.)
1/1/2018: 175.4 (Trigger: Gained 22.4 lbs from emotional eating, as well as having a torn hip labrum.)
1/1/2019: 184 (Trigger: Dad cancer x3, Stepdad passed away sepsis and cancer, Mom extremely anxious/depressed, stepdaughter's emotional issues/suicidal ideation.)
1/1/2020: 184.6 Maintained at least... Look out 2020, I'm coming for you!
2020 GOALS- Choose one small "bad" habit to change every month (12 new healthy lifestyle changes will be result)
- Make travel a priority. Stop waiting for "someday".
- Get Mom moved up near us
- Pay off all credit card debt
- Minimalism: declutter and downsize "wants" vs "needs"
- Weigh less on 1/1/2021 than today
- Decrease in measurements on 1/1/2021. Move in the right direction!
- Self-Care. Discover healthy hobbies or interests and schedule time to do them.
- Work on positivity vs negativity.
- Read the Bible all the way through.
Just for Today:
1. Eat Mindfully & journal every single bite
3. Drink 80+ oz of water
4. 30 minutes activity
5. Take measurements and update on MFP Done. All are up from last year.
6. Calm app - one meditation
7. Gratitude Journal before bed
8. Daily reading in my new revised Simple Abundance book
9. Prepare lunch for tomorrow, set out clothing for work, set up coffeemaker and alarm for early morning.
10. Read "Breaking the Diet Cycle" downloaded from Half-Size Me
11. Listen to Half Size Me podcast

January's Habit: Log every single bite. Stop "tasting" and not journaling.

You have been through so much in the past few years Tracie .. yet .. you have not given up! And ... you have been with me on these thread since the beginning! I went back and looked, and it was actually Dec of 2015 that I first started the JFT threads! I can't believe it has been that long. But look at all that we have all learned in that time. Its not just about the number on the scale! I am so proud of you .... and so happy that you have been a part of these threads for so long. You are one of the best online friends I have made ... among so many I have made! Happy New Year to you!7 -

5. Cook more frequently
I actually cooked today for the first time in a while and made a nice healthy dinner! I also stayed within my calories for the first time in idk how long.

Happy to see a new post for 2020.
I haven’t made any goals yet for the year or even had a chance to think a lot about it.
Hubby and I just had an argument our first in quite a while but my first thought was why do I want to be here. I want to be happy and I want to have a husband that I wants to please me as much as I want to please him. I don’t think he does and I don’t think the small things I do are appreciated. Maybe I’m wrong but right now it sure doesn’t feel like it. Maybe I need to focus on that this year getting and keeping a happy marriage or being alone.
I’ll come up with some goals soon.

So sorry to hear that your new year is starting out this way. You guys have both been under a lot of stresses lately .. praying that things can get better for you, or that you can have some peace, whatever that would mean. Hugs dear friend.3
